Objectives

The project GIOTTO, coordinated by Consorzio NETTUNO was aimed at the realization of a feasibility study that is preparatory to the development of a European Distance Degree for Operators of Cultural Heritage. The project was developed in two phases (12 months for study and 6 months for the experimental realization of materials, respectively), for a total duration of 18 months.
The first phase of the project was characterized on the one hand by the field research (through contacts and exchanges with different European universities, university staff, and different international institutions active in the Cultural Heritage sector and education in this field), and on the other hand by the analysis of existing studies in the Cultural Heritage sector. The feasibility study has outlined the features and contents of the European Distance Degree for Operators of Cultural Heritage, which constitutes an innovative training profile, designed basing on the skills and working requirements of this professional figure at the European level. The technological, pedagogical and organisational models have also been designed in order to develop a European Distance Degree in Cultural Heritage.
Thanks to the application of new technologies, the model should allow to reach users and to activate a real partnership among different European universities and the world of work.
