This module will introduce the foundations of descriptive and statistical methods in epidemiology and their role in public health, and how they have shaped the current field of study.
Following that, the module will identify descriptive study designs, measures of disease frequency and association under the sector of statistical methods. Additionally, students will learn how to identify the health status of populations based on commonly used indices and how to calculate, interpret, and apply selected health status measures.
Students will then focus on analytic epidemiology, including key concepts and attributes of ecological, case-control, cross-sectional and cohort studies.
